TGC entry which is also known as Technical Graduate course entry is a type of entry by which an engineering graduate can join the Indian Army as an officer.

Eligibility Conditions  of TGC 136 are mentioned below - 

Nationality - Candidate should be an Indian.

Age limit - Candidates applying for the TGC 136 should not be less than 20 years and not  more than 27 years as of 01-Jan-2023.

Education Requirements -: Candidates who passed the engineering  degree course are in the final year of the engineering  degree candidate studying in the final years of the Engineering course should be free from any backlogs in case of any backlogs the candidates will not be allowed to appear for SSB interview. 

Physical Standard -: No detailed physical standard for the post of TGC Only the required to have their heights equivalent to 157.5 cm.

The selection process of the applicants for TGC vacancies in Indian Army is divided into following parts - 

 

Shortlisting: Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves all the right to shortlist the candidates for further procedure of selection for the vacancies. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the selection rounds. The cut off marks will play an important role in shortlisting the applicants.

Two Stage Selection Procedure: The shortlisted candidates will participate in an exam conducted at the exam centers. Based on the result of the exam they will be asked to stay or leave the centers. Those who qualify the initial round will have to stay for 5 more days to take the SSB interview. On selection, in this round, the applicants will have to face a medical examination. Only medically fit applicants will get a chance to join IMA Dehradun.

 

Selection Process- 

 

Shortlisting of Applications -  Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves will shortlist applications and fix cutoff percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/stream without assigning any reason. The cut off will be applied in each stream on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by the candidates upto the final semester/year.

Centre Allotment. After shortlisting of applications, the Centre allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email. After allotment of the Selection Centre, candidates will have to log in to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first-come-first-serve basis initially.

SSB Interview - Candidates will be put through the two-stage selection procedure. Those who clear Stage-1 will go to Stage-2. Those who fail in Stage-1 will be returned on the same day. The duration of SSB interviews is five days.

The merit list will be prepared engineering stream/subject wise on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate at SSB interview.

Physical Standard - 

 

Height & Weight: The minimum acceptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight

Medical Exam: An applicant recommended by the Services Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical officers. In addition, Women applicants will undergo Medical Examination by a Lady Medical Officer/ and by other Specialists to rule out gynecological disorders.

 

TGC 136 Type of Commission- 

 

Grant of Commission. Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lt from the date of commencement of the course or

the date of reporting at IMA, whichever is later and will be entitled to full pay and allowances admissible to Lt during training period. Pay & allowances will be paid after successful completion of training.

Permanent Commission. On successful completion of training cadets will be granted Permanent Commission in the Army in the rank of Lt.

Ante Date Seniority. One year ante date seniority from the date of commission will be granted to Engineering Graduates of TGC Entry in the rank of Lt.

Indian Army Technical Graduate Course: How to Apply - 

 

  • Applications will only be accepted online on website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’ (Registration is not required, if already registered on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in).
  • Fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After getting registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard.
  • A page Officers Selection ‘Eligibility’ will open. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against the Technical Graduate Course.
  • A page ‘Application Form’ will open. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill details as required under various segments – Personal information, Communication details, Education details and details of previous SSB.
  • ‘Save & Continue’ each time before you go to the next segment.
  • After filling details on the last segment, you will move to a page ‘Summary of your information’ wherein you can check and edit the entries already made. Only after ascertaining the correctness of your details, click on ‘Submit’.
  • Candidates must click on ‘Submit’ each time they open the application for editing any details.
  • The candidates are required to take out two copies of their application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on the last day.

 

The candidate clearing the selection process with high marks will be called to Join the Indian Military Academy , Dehradun  based on their  ranks and vacancies available in the academy .

The training period of candidates for the  Technical Graduate course is fixed at 49 weeks  Additionally, the cost of training is fixed at Rs - 13,940.69 / per week  that is borne by the government of India.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES TO REMIND- 

 

Note-1. ALL FINAL YEAR APPEARING CANDIDATES WHOSE FINAL YEAR/ FINAL SEMESTER EXAM WILL BE SCHEDULED AFTER 01 JAN 2023 ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS COURSE. Candidates, who have yet to pass their degree examination will be eligible only if they are studying in the final year of degree examination. Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the final year Degree Examination and are allowed to appear for SSB, should note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to submit proof of passing Engineering Degree Examination alongwith all marksheets towards the Engineering Degree Examination by the above prescribed date and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of basic qualifying University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other grounds whatsoever.

 

Note-2. For induction to Pre Commission Training Academy, after final selection, the minimum educational qualification is passing BE/B.Tech degree in the Engineering streams notified below at Para 3. To become eligible for induction into TGC-136 course at Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun, candidates studying in final year of engineering are required to submit proof of passing Engineering Degree Examination alongwith marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 Jan 2023 to Directorate General of

Recruiting and ensure that the cumulative percentage of marks upto final semester/ year is not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.

 

Note-3. Final semester/year studying candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear in SSB; subject to following conditions:- (a) Their cumulative percentage of marks upto 6th semester/3rd year of Engineering degree, upto 8th semester/4th year of INDIAN ARMY www.joinindianarmy.nic.in 136TH TECHNICAL GRADUATE COURSE (TGC-136) (JAN 2023) B. Architecture (B.Arch) and upto 2nd semester/1st year of M.Sc in notified equivalent stream/ discipline is not below the approved cut off percentage in their respective streams. (b) After declaration of final results, the cumulative percentage of marks upto final semester/ year of degree course will also be not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.

 

Note-4. Candidates studying in the final year/semester of an Engineering degree course should not have any backlog at the time of submission of application. Any candidate if found having backlog will not be allowed to appear in SSB interview and candidature of such candidates will be cancelled.
