SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION TECH ENTRY CRITERIA:

2. Eligibility:-

 (a) Nationality:-

 A candidate must either be:-

(i) A citizen of India, or

(ii) a subject of Nepal, or

(iii) a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India country, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be the person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility is issued by Government of India.

Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary provided in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is required will attach such certificate along with the application form.

(b) Age Limit:-

 (i) For SSC(Tech)- Men and SSCW(Tech)- Women: 20 to 27 years as on 01 Apr 2023

(ii) For widows of Indian Armed Forces Defense Personnel who Died in Harness Only.

SSCW (Non-Tech) [Non-UPSC] and SSCW(Tech)- A maximum of 35 years of age as on 01 Apr 2023. 

(c) Educational Qualification for Applying.

 Candidates who have passed the required Engineering Degree course or already in the final year of their Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply. Candidates studying in the final year of Engineering degree course should be able to submit proofs of passing Engineering Degree Examination along with the marksheets of all semesters by 01st Apr,2023 and produce the Engineering Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training started at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Such candidates will be inducted on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost for training at Officers Training Academy (OTA) as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay + allowances paid, in case, they fail to produce the required degree certificate.

(D) Selection Procedure.:-

 The selection procedure is as follows:-

(a) Short listing of Applications. Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves all  the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/stream without assigning any reason mentioned. The cut off will be applied in each subject stream on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by the candidates upto the final semester. Final semester/year studying candidates will only be provisionally allowed to appear in the SSB; subject to following conditions:-

 (i) Their cumulative percentage of the candidate’s marks upto 6th semester/3rd year of Engineering degree, upto 8th semester/4th year of B. Architecture (B.Arch) and upto 2nd semester/1st year of M.Sc in notified equivalent stream/ discipline should not below the approved cut off percentage in their respective streams.

 (ii) After declaration of final results, the cumulative percentage of their marks till their final semester/ year of degree course will also be not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be canceled the same day.

(b) Center Allotment. After shortlisting of applications, the center allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email -IDs. After allotment of the Selection Centre, candidates will have to login their ID to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first come  & first serve basis initially. Thereafter, it will be allotted by the Selection Centres individually. The option to select the dates for SSB by candidates may be forfeited due to any  occurrence of exceptional circumstance/events in any case.

(c) Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cut off percentage will be interviewed at one of many Selection Centers i.e.  Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab) by teams of Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officers. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued by respective Selection Centres through candidate’s registered e-mail id and SMS directly. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of Directorate General (DG) of Recruiting, IHQ of MoD (Army) and NO request for any kind of  changes will be entertained in this regard.

(d) Candidates will be put through two stages of  selection procedure. Those who clear Stage-1 will be appeared for Stage-2. Those who fail in Stage-1 will be returned back on the same day. Duration of SSB interviews is for five days, and details of the same are available on its official website of Directorate General of Recruiting i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. It will be followed by a medical examination for all the candidates who get recommended after Stage-2.

 (e) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fully fit, will be issued a Joining Letter for the training in their order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available in the Indian Army, subject to meeting all the eligibility criteria.
