The detailed information about RVC (Remount Veterinary Corps) is described below -: The Remount veterinary Corps is an administration and  operational branch of the Indian Army and one of the oldest formations.

The Indian army only invited qualified male veterinary graduates for Short Service commission (SSC) in Remount Veterinary corps of the Indian army.

Eligibility criteria are given below -:

  • Age limit -: (1) - 21 to 32 years is the age limit for the candidates.

BVSC/BVSC and AH degree graduates, granted  SSC in RVC will be considered for grant of permanent commission, only if they are below 30 years of age on the date of grant for SSC and if they qualify in the departmental permanent commission (PC) test within 08 years of service.

(2)- For MVSC and Doctorate degree holders will be considered for grant of permanent commision only if they are below 32 and 34 year of age respectively on the date of grant of SSC and if they qualify in the departmental (PC) i.e permanent commission  within & years of service.

(3) They may take two attempts after completion of 02 years of service and before completion of 04 years of services.

  • Minimum educational  qualification is given below -: 
  1.  BVSC/BVSC and AH degree form any of the recognized Indian universities or its equivalent foregin degree (i.e the  candidate must possess recognized  veterinary qualification).
  2. Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination with internship at the time of submission of application . 
  3. Applicant or candidate should be a citizen of India with all the documents authorized by the government of india.
  • Selection procedure are given below-: 
  1. Shortlisting of Applications and SSB interview.

Initial screening and shortlisting of candidates will be done at Directorate General Remount Veterinary Service , Integrated (HQ) of MoD (Army) before forwarding them to recruiting directorate, HQ of MoD (Army)

  1.  Two stage selection method -: (1)The candidate undergoes stage of the Two stage Testing  procedure candidates failing in stage  i will be sent back.

(2)Qualified candidates will be detailed to undergo Group Test , psychological Test and interview which will extend for 05 days.


(c) Merit list -: (1)Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates at SSB.

 (2) Those high on the merit list who come within the stipulated vacancies and are also medically fit are issued joining instructions.


(d) Grant of commission -: (1) Candidate will be commissioned on the rank of CAPTAIN

  • Post commission training at RVC center and college, meerut cantt.

(2) Promotion up to the rank of Major While in SSC and thereafter, if GRAnted PC, up to colonel (TS) is time bound.

(3)All officers granted commission would serve the indian Army for a period of five years from the date of conferment of commission subject to fulfillment of others criteria 

(4)The period of five years may further be extended for another five years subject to their performance.

(e) Pay , allowances and other benefits -: (1) Officers on commissioning in the rank of captain are entitled to basic pay of Rs. 15.600/-

(2) Military service pay 6,000/-

(3) Grade pay of 6,000/-

(4) Non- practice allowance (NPA)@ 25% of basic pay

(5) Additional benefits are also included like free ratin for self only, free medical facilities for  self and family, LTC,
