Indian women won gold in ISSF World cup

On Thursday, India’s Shri Nivetha, Esha Singh, and Ruchita Vinerkar won gold in the women’s 10m air pistol team event of the ISSF World Cup.

On Wednesday night, the Indians shot 16 in the gold medal event to finish on the podium for the country’s third medal, and second gold, in the year’s inaugural World Cup. India leads the rankings with three medals, two of which are gold.

Andrea Katharina Heckner, Sandra Reitz, and Carina Wimmer of Germany took silver after scoring 6 points in the final.

On their journey to the gold medal match, the three Indian ladies won qualification stage 2 with a total score of 574.

Heckler, Reitz, and Wimmer trailed the Indians with 571 points. With a total score of 856, Esha, Shri Nivetha, and Ruchita also won qualification stage 1.

Earlier in the day, Olympians Saurabh Chaudhary, Gaurav Rana, and Uchaganve Kedarling Balakrishna were eliminated from the men’s 10m air pistol team competition.

The Indian pistol team finished fourth in the bronze medal match with a total of 6, trailing Italy’s Torracchi Alessio, Monna Paolo, and Tesconi Luca, who totalled 16.

The Indians finished ahead of their Italian counterparts in Qualification Stage 2 with 581 points (577) The Indians finished first with a total of 765 points.

Prior to that, the Indian team of Rudrankkash Balasaheb Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Srinjoy Dutta missed out on a bronze medal spot in the men’s 10m air rifle team event by a single point.

The Indian men’s rifle team totalled 624.1 points, just one point fewer than the Czech Republic’s Ales Entrichel, Jiri Privratsky, and Filip Nepejchel’s total score of 624.2.

The Czechs went on to win bronze, beating out Austria. With a total score of 625.0, the Indian team of Shreya Agarwal, Ayushi Gupta, and Rajshree Sancheti finished seventh in the qualification stage 2 of the women’s 10m air rifle team event.

Other than India, eight other countries have claimed the ten gold medals issued thus far, although none has more than one.

Germany and Italy are tied for second place on the table, each having one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. So far, 17 countries have received medals.

Over 500 competitors from 60 countries are competing in the World Cup, which has 20 medal sets. On Thursday, there are no finals scheduled.
