Indian Navy Presidential Fleet Review 2022

To commemorate 75 years of independence from India, President Ram Nath Kovind will participate in the review of the Fleet of the Indian Marina President on February 21 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

A fleet review usually takes place once during the president’s term. To date, 11 Presidential Fleet Reviews have been conducted since independence, two of which were International Fleet Reviews, in the years 2001 and 2016.

Historically, a fleet review is a group of ships at a predetermined point for the purpose of showing loyalty and loyalty to the sovereign and state. With the rehabilitation of the ships, the Head of State reaffirms confidence in the fleet and its ability to defend the nation’s maritime interest, and this exercise is being carried out without any “belligerent intent”.

The exercise was carried out the last time in 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The boats are ceremonially dressed and the ritual is called “Monkey Dress”. According to the ritual, flags are attached to the masts from bow to stern on all ships. The men will don their ceremonial attire and the ceremony that follows as the President’s yacht steams up is called “Man and cheer ship.”

After the flypast, the Marine Commandos (Marcos) will demonstrate the anti-terrorist operation, a search and rescue exercise and a steam pass of some submarines. After the exercise, the President will address the nation, which will mark the end of the review. Thereafter, the President will post a special envelope and postage stamp at the Naval Base to celebrate the occasion.
