Former Army Chief Gen Sunith Francis Rodrigues passed

General (retd) Sunith Francis Rodrigues, who led the Indian Army from 1990 to 1993 and was governor of Punjab from 2004 to 2010, died on Friday, according to an official announcement. He was 88 years old when he died. The Indian Army issued a statement on Twitter, saying, “General M M Naravane, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and all ranks of the Indian Army extend deepest condolences on the sad loss of General Sunith Francis Rodrigues, who died away.

He spent two stints on the National Security Advisory Board and was governor of Punjab from 2004 to 2010, according to the statement. He has more than 40 years of distinguished service in the army.

“He has been active in social and literary endeavours since his retirement, as well as delivering several presentations on strategic problems,” the army added.
