Defence Ministry Grants Permanent Entry for women in IAF as Pilots

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said the decision was a testament to the ability of India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ (woman power) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to women’s empowerment, “The MoD has decided to convert the Experimental Scheme for Induction of Women Fighter Pilots in the Indian Air Force into a permanent scheme,”

The decision came months after the Supreme Court cleared the way for women to be accepted into all three services at the prestigious National Defense Academy (NDA), which was only for men.

This is great news for the women candidates who want to join the defence force as a pilot. As we are seen that our defence ministry taking a strong decision to take participate in women in defence forces either for the army or the air force.

Many girls get motivated that they can also become the officers in defence as permanent commission posts. In 2018, Flight Officer Avani Chaturvedi of the Indian Air Force made history by becoming the first Indian woman to fly a fighter jet solo.

In 2020, the Navy announced that he used his first batch of women’s pilots on the maritime plane of Dornier.
