Military Nursing Service : Important Highlights

On 01^st October 1926, it’s decided to have a permanent military nursing service in the Indian Army and the nursing service for the Indian troop hospitals came into being with the total count of 55 nurses. In 1927, the designation for the Military Nursing Service for Indian troops hospital was modified to Indian Military Nursing Service .With outbreak of World war II in year 1939, 313 nurses were additionally sanctioned for the nursing services of the British Army stationed at various places in  India, including the 55 nurses of the Indian Military Nursing Service.

Indian Army’s MNS Recruitment & eligibility criteria are as listed below :-

Nationality:

 Candidates must be a citizen of India and only female candidates can apply.

Gender & Marital Status:

Only unmarried female candidates, legally separated, divorcee & widow without issues can apply.

Height must be around 148 cm for general category & 153 cm for reserved category.

Educational Qualification:

 The educational qualification which is specified by the officials are listed as below:

The candidate must have passed Class 10+2 or equivalent with subject streams which are equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English with not less than 50% marks as a regular student from a recognized State/Central board.

The MNS selection Process wholly divided into 2 stages-

1. The written exam  –

2. Interview Round –  

The female candidates who get selected in Written exam further called for interview round & further shortlisted for final medical test by Special Medical Board(SMB).

• MNS Salary During Training Period: 

The candidate under training period will receive a fixed remuneration of Rs.8000/- under the NDA training period salary. Note, that the period of the training shall not be treated as a part of commissioned service, and the allowances during the training period will only be paid as arrears on successful commissioning by cadets.

• MNS Salary After Training: 

Once, the candidate has been commissioned as an officer for post of Lieutenant, the pay scale will be provided as per level 10 with Rs.56,100/- to 1,77,500/- as basic pay, including all the allowances and other perks included.
