JAG SSB Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Minimum 55% aggregate marks in their LLB Degree (three years professional after graduation or five years after 10 plus 2) examination. In addition, the CLAT PG Score of the preceding year is mandatory for all candidates (including LLM-qualified and LLM-appearing candidates) who apply for courses starting in a particular year. The candidates should be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India/State. The candidate should be from a College/University recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Nationality

A candidate must either be: (i) A citizen of India, or (ii) A subject of Nepal, (iii) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal. 

Age Limit

21 to 27 years as of 01 Jan 2023 (Born not earlier than 02 Jan 1996 and not later than 01 Jan 2002; both dates inclusive). 

How to Apply Online for JAG SSB?

While applying for JAG entry, you must follow the steps below to avoid any confusion.

  • Only online applications via the www.joinindianarmy.nic.in website will be accepted. After selecting "Officer Entry Apply/Login," click "Registration" (Registrations not required, if already registered on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in).
  • After carefully reading the instructions, complete the online registration form. After logging in, select "Apply Online" from the Dashboard. It will open a page labelled "Officers Selection - Eligibility." Afterwards, select "Apply" next to Short Service Commission JAG Entry Course.
  • The "Application Form" page will load. After carefully reading the instructions, click "Continue" and complete the necessary fields for the various phases. Information about yourself, your communications, your education, and your prior SSB facts.
  • You must always click "Save & Continue" before moving on to the next section. After completing the last segment's details, you will be taken to the "Summary of your information" page, where you can review and change the entries that have already been completed.
  • Only once you are satisfied that all of your information is accurate should you click "Submit Now." When candidates open the application to make any changes, they must click "Submit Now" before closing it.
  • 30 minutes after the final online application deadline on the last day, candidates must print two copies of their completed application that include their roll number.

Documents Required for JAG SSB Interview

Self-attested copies of the following documents along with their originals are to be carried to the Selection Centre by the candidates:- 

  • One copy of the printout of the application was duly signed and affixed with a self-attested photograph. 
  • Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate and Mark Sheet issued by the concerned Board of Education.
  • 12th Class Certificate & Marks sheet.
  • Graduation Degree/Provisional Degree (in case of three years LLB after graduation) issued by a recognised university. Provisional Degree should not be more than six months old at the time of the candidate joining the Academy. 
  • LLB Degree/Provisional Degree issued by a recognised university. Provisional Degree should not be more than six months old at the time of the candidate joining the Academy. 
  • Marks sheets of all years/Semesters. 
  • Registration with Bar Council of India/State OR Certificate from college / University that the LLB Course in the said institution is recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Certificate issued by the University regarding formulae for conversion of CGPA/Grades into marks followed by the University.
  • CLAT PG Score Card.

JAG SSB Interview Process

Day 1 Of SSB: Reporting

  • Documents Check

Day 4 Of The SSB: Personal Interview

In the Personal Interview round, Examiners are free to ask any questions, which can be related to their personal lives or maybe from subjects as well etc. Well, you have to reply gently to every question. Day 5 Of SSB: Conference

The conference day is basically a test or activity. This is the day when you will be told your result. All the candidates who clear the Interview will proceed to further phases of selection. Most probably that would be a medical examination.

JAB SSB Training

  • The duration of training is 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. 
  • Selected candidates will be detailed for Pre-Commission training at OTA, Chennai according to their position in the final order of merit, up to the number of available vacancies, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria. 
  • Candidates will neither be allowed to marry during the period of training nor will he/she be allowed to live with parents/guardians. Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at OTA. A candidate, who marries subsequent to the date of his/her application, though successful at the SSB interview and medical examination, will not be eligible for training. A candidate if he/she marries, while under training, shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditures incurred on him/her by the Government. 
  • All candidates who successfully complete Pre-Commission training at OTA, Chennai will be awarded a ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies by the University of Madras.
  • The final allocation of Arms/Services will be made prior to the passing out of Gentlemen / Lady Cadets from OTA.
