The Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant consists of six stages:

Brief description about the Indian Coast Guard Exam Process:
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is a maritime law enforcement and search plus rescue agency of India with jurisdiction over its all-territorial waters including its contiguous zone and exclusive economic zone. The Indian Coast Guard was established on 1st February 1977 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India. It operates under Ministry of Defence.
The Indian Coast Guard works in close cooperation with the Indian Navy, the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Revenue (Customs), and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and the State Police Services (SPS).
Exam Pattern for Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Assistant Commandant:-
The exam pattern for each stage of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Assistant Commandant are as follows:-
Stage – 1: Computer-Based Test
The Stage-I would include a screening Test for eligible applicants which will be a Computer Based Examination (CBT) conducted at various centres all over the India. Screening test is to be conducted for candidates applying for the post of the GD/CPL and Technical (Mechanical/Electrical & Electronics).
Stage – 2: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)
Based on the performance in the Stage-I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Stage-II(PSB)which will be conducted for one single-day at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai and Kolkata centres. Candidates will be given the choice of PSB centre at the time of filling of application form. Candidates will be screened through the Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).
The CCBT will be in English only and of Objective type in nature. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in the English Language. However, they are also free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. The Stage-II examination is only of qualifying in nature i.e. either Pass or Fail.
Stage – 3: Final Selection Board (FSB)
The candidates qualifying for Stage-3 will be intimated on completion of stage-II at respective centres the very same day. The schedule of Stage-3 will be intimated to the candidate on personal Login IDs created at time of registration. The FSB call-letter along with reporting instructions will be intimated to candidates on personal Login IDs. FSB is conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) located at Noida and continues over five days.
The Candidates are subjected to 3 major tests at this stage:
(a)Psychological Test,
(b) Group Task ,and
(c ) Interview (Personality test).
The Final Selection of candidates will be conducted tentatively from Feb – Apr 2023.All documents/certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB selection process. Board conference will be held on the last day out of 5-day process and thereafter recommended candidates are sent for Stage-IV i.e. Special medical examination process.
Stage – 4: Medical Examination
The candidates who clear Stage-III named as FSB are required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates who are declared unfit in Special Medical Board (SMB) are included in the merit list, because the candidates who are declared unfit in SMB have the liberty to appeal for the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at designated service hospital within 42 days of completion of SMB.
Stage – 5: Induction
The candidates who will clear Stage – IV and stand in All India Merit List as per the vacancies available will be only provisionally selected for further training and will be required to report at INA Ezhimala for Naval Orientation Course (NOC) as per the instructions followed.
Stage – 6: Result Declaration
The result of each stage of the selection procedure from Stage-I to Stage-V can be accessed by the login ID to the candidates account on ICG website.
