AGE- The age limit for the past between 18 and 22 years Candidates must have been between may 1 2001 to April 30.2002 both dates are inclusive relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 year (SC/ST) and 3 year OBC (Noncreamy) are provided to candidates .
Educational Qualification- For navik (General duty) - passed class 10+2 with math and physics from an education board recognized b council of boards of school education i.e (COBSE)

Syllabus of Indian Coast Guard (GD) i.e Ground Duty is- The level of the Indian Coast Guard Navik syllabus is of class 10+2 standards . The written exam includes several bestowing topics such as English Physics Mathematics , Basic Chemistry Reasoning Current affairs and
Quantitative aptitiude.
Indian Coast Guard Navik Exam Pattern - Indian Coast Guard Navik Exam pattern basically decided into five phase. The exam pattern for each phase bestow below -
STAGE - I In stage 1 there are two sections and it is conducted in CBT i.e computer Based Test dr mode Candidate who have opted for Navik DB (Domestic Branch) are required to attempt section i which comprises Math, Science , English , Reasoning and General Knowledge . The standard of the syllabus is of class 10th standard. Maximum Marks allotted to the test is 60. Candidates who have opted for Navik (GD) Ground Duty are required to appear for both section I And II The section - I is same as Navik DB (Domestic Branch) section II comprises questions from Math + physics are marks allocated to the test are 50. Exam pattern is of objective type .
STAGE - II Those who qualify the written exam are asked to appear in stage - II that comprises physical fitness Test i.s (PFT) , document verification & initial medical exam .
The duration of stage II is for 1 to 2 days.
The PFT (Physical Fitness Test ) consists of running , squat ups and push ups. In the documents verification , all the original documents such as grade of X ,XII photo identity card including caste certificate etc are verified . In the medical examination the medical board may put the candidates as perment;y unfit or temporarily unfit.
STAGE - III- It comprises final documents verification and medical exam at INS Chilka Duration of this stage is one to two days.
STAGE -IV- The candidates who clear stage III and stand in merit as per the vacancies available are provisionally shortlisted for training at INS Chilka.

After joining , a Nnavik in the Indian Coast guard will be entitled to get a basic pay of INR 21,700 plus DA (Dearness Allowance) and other allowances.
-A Navik can be promoted upto rank of pradhan adhikari with a pay scale of 47,600 with dearness allowance
- Apart from basic pay and allowance , a navik is entitled to get free ration clothing, medical treatment, government accommodation for self and family at nominal rate, canteen and various loan facilities.
