Educational Criteria :-
(I) Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA) : Graduate Degree from a recognized central/State or National level University or an equivalent qualification.
(II) Indian Naval Academy (INA): Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering stream from any recognized University or an equivalent qualification.
(III) Air Force Academy (AFA): Graduation Degree (with Physics & Maths at 12th level) from a recognized University or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering stream.
Marital Status, Age and Gender Criteria for applying in CDS:-
(I) Indian Military Academy (IMA): Only unmarried male candidates between the age group of 18 and 23 years, as on the cut-off date as mentioned in the UPSC recruitment notification can apply.
(II) Indian Naval Academy (INA): Only unmarried male candidates who are aged between 18 and 23 years, as on the cut-off date are eligible.
(III) Air Force Academy (AFA): Unmarried male candidates between the age group of 20 and 24 years, as on the cut-off date, can apply. Maximum age limit is permitted for candidates having a valid and current DGCA India issued commercial pilot license is extended up to 26 years. Candidates aged less than 25 years should be unmarried male candidates. However, married candidates aged more than 25 years are also eligible to apply, subject to their fulfilment of the other eligibility criteria.
(IV) Officers Training Academy (OTA): (For Males) Unmarried candidates between the age group of 18 and 24 years, as on the cut-off date, are only eligible to apply.
(v) Officers Training Academy: (For Females) Unmarried women, issueless divorcees (having divorce papers) and issueless widows who haven’t married again, aged between 18 and 24 years as on the cut-off date, are eligible to apply.
Selection Process Criteria :-
The selection process comprises of 2 stages :-
(a) Written Exam
(B) Interview (Personality & Intelligence Test).
The candidates who get shortlisted on the basis of their own performance in the written exam are further called upon for the interview by the SSB (Services Selection Board) at one of many designated centres as per set of regulations.

Note- There will be a fixed remuneration for Military Service Pay (MSP) amount of INR 15,500/- per month to be provided to the officers for the rank of Lieutenant to Brigadier Post.
The candidate under training period will receive a fixed remuneration of Rs.56100/- under the CDS training period salary. Note, that the period of the training shall not be treated as a part of commissioned service, and the allowances during the training period will only be paid as arrears on successful commissioning by cadets.
Once, the candidate has been commissioned as an officer for post of Lieutenant, the pay scale will be provided as per level 10 with Rs.56,100/- to 1,77,500/- as basic pay, including all the allowances and other perks included.
Selected candidates may be later appointed as the cadets on reporting at the Indian Naval Academy (INA). The cadets shall be commissioned later in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant post after successful completion of approximately 18 months of training period.
