UPSC CAPF Recruitment Eligibility Criteria :Highlights

Assistant commandant age limit :

  • As of 1 August,2023, the age of the candidate should be between 20-25 years.
  • If the candidate belongs to Scheduled Caste or Tribe or Janata, he will be given 5 years of relaxation in age above general criteria.
  • Other Backward Class candidates eligible for the reservation applicable to them will be given a maximum relaxation of 3 years above general criteria.
  • According to the central government’s current instructions, a relaxation of 5 years for civilian central government employees and ex-servicemen will be provided.

 

 

Educational Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • In this recruitment, those candidates can also apply who have appeared in  the graduation examination, and their result is still awaiting.

 

(A) Selection Procedure/Scheme: -

The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Examination will be as defined follows:

 (i) Written Examination: The written examination to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission will be held on XX-XX-XXX and will comprise two papers. Paper I will be held from 10 a.m.-12.00 Noon and Paper II will be held from 2.00 p.m.-5.00 p.m.

 Note: Paper-I will be evaluated first and evaluation of Paper-II will be done only for those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I.

CAPF Written Exam Pattern:-

The Union Public Service Commission sets the CAPF syllabus and exam pattern. Knowing the syllabus and CAPF exam pattern will help candidates make a better strategy for preparation in a systematic & timely manner. The commission announces the exam date by publishing the CAPF Exam Calendar every year. The Union Public Service Commission conducts UPSC CAPF exam for the merit-based selection of Assistant Commandant (Group A) Officers in BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF, SSB, NSG and AR.

•The UPSC exam for CAPF comprises 2 written Papers.

•Paper-I tests the general ability and intelligence of the candidates based on a MCQ format.

•Paper-II is descriptive in nature and tests the language proficiency of the candidates.

•Candidates get 2 hours duration to complete 200 questions in paper-I carrying 250 marks and 3 hours to complete 6 descriptive type questions in paper-II carrying 200 marks.

(ii) Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests : Candidates who will be declared qualified in the written examination will be summoned for Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Those candidates who meet the prescribed the Physical Standards will be put through the Physical Efficiency Tests as indicated below :

Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests will be called for the Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by UPSC. Candidates who are declared medically unfit but allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” on their appeal by the Appellate Authority will be called for Interview/Personality Tests on a provisional basis. Candidates who will be shortlisted for the Interview/Personality Test, including those shortlisted for the Interview/Personality Test provisionally will be issued a Detailed Application Form in which among other things, they will be required to indicate the preference of Forces.

(iv) Final Selection / Merit: The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by all the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview or Personality Test.
