WHAT IS ARMY TES ENTRY?

Technical Entry Scheme (10+2) is one of the opportunities for defence aspirants to join the Indian Army as an officer in the Engineering Core. The TES is conducted by the Indian Army Twice a year. There are o written examinations like UPSC - NDA, and CDS Candidates can directly apply for the SSB interview based on their marks in 12th standard (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,) Indian Army has made JEE Main exam mandatory for recruitment through the Indian Army TES. TES is one of the entry schemes to join the Indian Army. The technical Entry Scheme is for an unmarried male candidate who has passed the 10+2 examination in physics, chemistry and Mathematics. The candidate must note the criteria of eligibility regarding age and other factors.

How to Apply for Army TES Entry

Step - 1 Click on the direct link mentioned above to apply for the TES.

Step - 2 Post this, enter the code as mentioned on the screen to enter the online portal of the Indian Army.
Step - 3 Thereafter, the candidates need to click on the Registration button and proceed further.

Step - 4  On the registration page, enter all the info asked i.e Aadhaar Number, Candidate’s Name, Parent’s Name, Date of Birth, Email Id, and Mobile Number, then click on The submit button and proceed further.

Step - 5 Post successful registration, the candidates are required to click on apply online and then fill out the application form with all the relevant details i.e Board of class 10th, Highest Qualification, Enrolment, Enrollment number, etc.

Step -6 Click on I agree on the checkbox at the bottom of the page and click on final save.

Step -7  Download and print the final application for future reference and records.

DOCUMENTS CARRIED BY THE CANDIDATES

  • Printout of Indian Army TES Admit Card
  • One printout of the self-attested application form.
  • Class 10th certificate/mark sheet in original showing DOB.
  • Class 12th certificate/mark sheet in the original. 
  • ID proof in original.
  • 20 copies of self-attested passport size photographs will also be carried along with the Application Form

Nationality

A candidate must be an unmarried male and must either be :

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Bruma, SriLanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the international of permanently settling in India, Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii),(iii),(iv), and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Govt of India.

Age Limit

A candidate must not be below 16 ½  years and above 19 ½  years.

Educational Qualification

  1. Technical Entry Scheme Course (TES) at least 60% marks in Science subjects (Mathematics and Physics Chemistry) in class 12th.
  2. Appeared in JEE Mains examination for TES Course.

Physical Standards

  • Height: The minimum height of the candidate should not be less than 140 cm.
  • Weight: The minimum weight for candidates of all ages is 35.3 kg. Apart from this, the candidates are required to consider their weight proportionate to their height from the physical standard released by the army.
  • Body Mass Index should be below 25.
  • The waist and hip ratio should be 0.9 for males and 0.8 for females.
  • Waist size should be less than 90cm for males and 80 cm for females.

Shortlisting 

The Shortlisting of the candidates is done by the integrated HQ of MoD. The list is prepared based on the marks scored by them in the class 12th (10+2) examination; the updates for Army TES JEE Mains scores will be mandatory for the candidates willing to apply. Fix cut-off marks and the candidates having equal to or more than that will be sent to the next stage of the selection process.

SSB Interview

The Indian Army 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme TES Selection process is the SSB interview that is held for 5 days.

SSB  INTERVIEW -: DAY 1

On the very first day, the screening test is conducted consisting of an OIR (Officers Intelligence Rating) test and PPDT (Picture Perception and Description Test).

SSB INTERVIEW -: DAY -2

After the forest day, the candidate is called for psychological testing on the Second day of the SSB interview given below -: 

TAT (Thematic Apperception Test)-: In this test, the candidates are shown II hazy/blur and have to write a positive story. The 12th picture will be blank and the candidate needs to write a self- Description.

WAT (Word Association Test) -: This test determines a candidate’s psychology. 60 words are shown on the projector and candidates have to associate these words with some positive events.

SRT (Situation Reaction Test)-: In this 10 minutes will be given to candidates for answering these questions. 60 questions are given and candidates have to write 2 -3 sentences in each situation.

SSB INTERVIEW - DAY 3 and 4

On the third and fourth days, the GTO tasks are done to determine the suitable candidate GTO (Group Testing Officer) is the most powerful person in the SSB Interview because he will spend two days testing the abilities of candidates.

GTO Testing is divided into rolling tasks-:

  • Group planning Exercise (GPE)
  • Progressive Group Task (PGT)
  • Group Obstacle Task (HGT)
  • Lecturette
  • Individual Obstacle (IO)
  • Command Task (CT)
  • Final Group Task (FGT)

SSB Interview - DAY -5 -: D-day of the SSB Interview on this day the candidate is called for the conference for verification by the panel and after this the result is announced.

A personal interview round is also organized on any day between the second to the fourth day. The interviewing officers are top senior officers like Colonels or Brigadier. A personal interview is an integral part of the SSB interview process in which the details in PIQ i.e personal Information Questionnaire form are matched with your personality so they need to be correct and genuine.

Medical Examination 

The last round in the Medical Examination wherein the candidates will be checked if they are medically fit for the aforesaid role, During the medical examination, the candidates will be asked to stay in any of the military hospitals. The candidates who are declared unfit by the medical board team can challenge the same and reappear for the medical examination.

Indian Army TES Training Process

The candidates who are finally appointed by the Indian Army will be eligible to receive training. The total training period of the candidates upon selection will be 5 years which will be broken into different sub- periods.
