Selection Process

Selection Procedures for the Indian Air Force Group Y

The Air Force Group Y recruitment selection procedure consists of three steps, including an online written exam, a physical fitness test, and a medical examination. The candidates have to qualify for all these three stages to get eligible for the post of Group Y recruitment.

 

 

Physical Examination

There will be a 1.6 km run that must be finished in 6 minutes, 30 seconds. To qualify for the physical fitness test, candidates must also complete 10 pushups, 10 situps, and 20 squats in the allotted time.

Test of Adaptability No. 1 (Applicable to Both Group X & Group Y Trades) - The Adaptability Test-I (objective type written test) is required of all candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and is used to determine whether a candidate is qualified to join the Indian Air Force (IAF), which requires deployment in a variety of geographic terrain, weather, and operational conditions.

The second adaptation test is for both Group X and Group Y trades. All candidates who pass the Adaptability Test I are required to take the Adaptability Test II in accordance with current policy. The purpose of the Adaptability Test-II is to identify candidates who can adapt to the Indian Air Force's environment and can live a military lifestyle.

 

Test of Medical Fitness 

(i) Height

(i)152.5 cm is the bare minimum acceptable height.

IAF(P) trading requires a minimum height of 165 cm (For NE and Hill States) 175 Cms (For other States) (For other States)

For NE and Hill States, the required minimum height for the Auto Tech trade is 162.5 cm; elsewhere, 165 cm (For other States)

(ii)Chest: 5 cm 

(iii) Weight that is in line with height and age. However, the Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade is the only one that needs to weigh at least 55 kg.

(iv) PRK/LASIK corneal surgery is not appropriate.

(v)Hearing -Candidate must be able to hear clearly in both ears from a distance of six metres, which is considered normal hearing.

(vi) Dental-Should have a nice set of teeth, healthy gums, and at least 14 dental points.

(vii) General Health: The candidate should have normal anatomical structure and no missing appendages. He should be free from any infection, skin conditions, latent or active medical condition, recent surgery, or chronic medical condition. The candidate must be physically and psychologically capable of carrying out their duties in any location, regardless of climate or terrain.

The Indian Air Force administers the examination for the Indian Air Force's recruitment procedure (IAF). The written test, physical fitness test, and medical test are the three rounds of the IAF Group X & Y selection process.
