Candidates sharing their Date of Birth from 16th January to 29th December will be considered for this Recruitment.
In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit of the date of enrolment is 21 years.
Physical Fitness Test
There will be a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 06 minutes 30 seconds. Candidates shall also have to complete 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups, and 20 Squats within the stipulated time to qualify for the Physical Fitness Test.
Adaptability Test- 1 (For both Group ‘ X’ & Group ‘Y’ Trades) – All candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-I (objective type written test) which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.
Adaptability Test- 2 (For both Group ‘ X’ & Group ‘Y’ Trades) – All candidates who pass the Adaptability Test – I shall have to undertake Adaptability Test- II as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test- II is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.
Medical Fitness Test
iii) Weight-Proportionate to height and age. However, the minimum weight of 55 Kg is required for Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade only.
Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
Application Fees For IAF Group X, Y Exam
Examination fee of Rs.250/- is to be paid by the candidate while registering for the online examination.
The selection procedure-The following are the three phases that a candidate will have to undergo for final selection in IAF.
(a) Phase-I: Online Written Test, At an allotted Centre
(b) Phase-II: Physical Fitness Test, AT-I and AT-II Test At Airmen Selection Centre of IAF

Marking pattern for online test:-
(i) One mark for every correct answer.
(ii) Nil (0) marks for unattempted questions.

Phase II: The candidates have to qualify in each exam to get selected candidates Phase 2 (Document Verification) and a separate admit card will be sent via registered email id. The candidates have to appear with the documents listed in the notification pdf.
Phase III: Medical Examination
Salary of the IAF Group X- During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month shall be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP), Group ‘X’ Pay (applicable for Group ‘X’ Trades only), and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:-
(a) Group ‘X’ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade). Rs.33,100/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
(b) Group ‘Y’ [Except IAF(S) and Musician Trades]. Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
Indian Air Force Group X & Y Selection Process
The selection process of the Indian Air Force examination is conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The IAF Group X & Y selection process will consist of 3 different rounds including the written test, physical fitness test, and medical test. To grab the post under Group X or Group Y, candidates need to appear and pass all the selection rounds.
The Indian Air Force will analyze the candidates in all fields to check the capability of the candidates for the Airmen Group X & Y positions. Candidates need the crack the qualifying marks as set by the Indian Air Force. The Airmen Group X & Y selection will be purely be based on merit along with candidates' performance in other selection rounds.
The selection for Airmen Group X & Y posts in the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be based on the following 3 stages:

The test will be in bilingual language (both English and Hindi) except for the English paper. The paper is of 10+2 level. There will be a sectional cutoff for all the subjects in addition to an overall cutoff.

Adaptability Test-1:
The candidates who clear the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will then proceed to the adaptability test where the first test is SRT (Situation Reaction Test). Here the decision making, response/reaction of a candidate is assessed. There are a total of 45 SRTs for which a total of 30 minutes is allotted. This test assesses the attitude of a candidate in response to the qualities set by the defense forces for selecting a candidate of the right frame of mind.
Adaptability Test-2:
After clearing Adaptability Test 1, selected candidates appear for Group Discussion. This comprises 10-15 candidates sitting in a group who are assigned a common topic and discuss their views on it. The topics are related to current affairs and social events. This test checks the knowledge as well as the communication skill of a person. Interpersonal skills such as convincing ability are also assessed.
After clearing all the rounds, those candidates that are shortlisted are given Test Series with the dates of medical examinations along with the venue.
The candidates after clearing Adaptability Test 2 then appear for a medical examination where they are checked and cleared medically.
